Highland District Hospital's Sports Medicine Outreach program offers prevention, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries to student-athletes in area athletic-communities. The outreach program features Licensed Athletic Trainers, certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, specializing in sports related injuries. Our Athletic Trainers are on-site during practices and games to assist in preventing injuries, educating coaches and athletes in recognizing risks, and allowing for prompt evaluation of injuries when they occur. They work closely with injured student-athletes, their families, coaches, and physicians to return the athlete quickly and safely to peak performance.
The program also features:
- A Licensed Athletic Trainer based in the Center for Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine that is dedicated to treating injuries of student-athletes
- Licensed Athletic Trainers based in the Outpatient Orthopedic clinic to assist in the care of the injured student-athlete
- Pre-participation physicals for student-athletes
- Pupil Activity Validation programs for coaches
