Occupational Therapy

Department Information
Occupational Therapy (OT) is skilled treatment that focuses upon assisting people in developing the "skills for the job of living" necessary for independent and satisfying lives. Occupational therapies' primary focus is on improving skill and strength, when these components cannot be developed or improved, creative solutions and alternatives for carrying out daily activities are devised. Therapists also provide adaptive equipment recommendations and usage training. The staff is trained to evaluate and treat the following conditions: Hand, wrist and other upper extremity injuries Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Work-related injuries Adaptive equipment needs Activity of Daily Living needs Various pain syndromes Strokes & other neurological conditions Head injuries Spinal cord injuries Cognitive disorders Splinting/orthotic needs The staff provides skilled services in the following rehabilitation programs: In patient All Out patient Programs Sports Medicine Pediatrics Industrial Rehabilitation

Linda Bell Education: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Shatnee State University (2002) Certification for evaluation and treatment of Allen's Cognitive Level Program (ACLS) (2007) Certified Lymphedema Therapist (2008) Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Educator Certifications: Occupational Therapist registered by the National Board for Certification for Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board Bio: Linda has lived in Highland County for most of her life, and is proud to call it home. She graduated from Whiteoak High School in 1979. She enjoys gardening, camping, boating, fishing, and learning to quilt from her Grandmother. She is currently working on expanding her degree to include a degree as a Certified Hand Therapist to better serve the needs of her clients and the community. Linda provides treatment and education for clients with Lymphedema, and those struggling with activities of daily life (which is everything you do from waking up til you go to bed). Everything you do to take care of yourself and are not able to do, we will find a different way to do it, or a way to help you get it done independently. Occupational Therapy also works with hand, elbow, shoulder disorders as well as cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Dana Hendrix Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy The Ohio State University Certifications: Occupational Therapist registered by the National Board for Certification for Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board Sensory Integration Therapy Bio: Dana lives in West Union, with her 3 daughters shere she loves to sit around the pool and read. She also loves to travel when she can. She graduated from St. Clairesville High School and has a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University. Dana is an Occupational Therapist certified in Sensory Integration Therapy and specializing in treatment of pediatric clients. She provides treatment to pediatric clients with autism, sensory sensitivities, sensory integration difficulties, cerebral palsy, and head injuties. She also provides treatment to adult clients with a variety of problems such as shoulder/elbow/hand injuries, stroke and head injury.
